UHY LLP’s Pat Rohrkaste is Honored By Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants For Outstanding Public Service

(St. Louis, Missouri – June 3, 2009)  Even with his professional responsibilities as firm partner and his personal responsibilities as devoted husband and father of five, Pat Rohrkaste always makes time to make a difference in his community.

Pat Rohrkaste is being honored with the Outstanding Public Service Award by the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA). This award honors members who have made a difference to the community through their commitment to public service. Nominees for the award are evaluated on their diversity of service activities over an extended period and on their level of leadership and initiative.

Rohrkaste’s commitment to serving the public is demonstrated through his role as treasurer for Annie’s Hope, an organization that provides bereavement support for children who have faced a significant loss.  He has been active with the YMCA of the Ozarks through its Partner Campaign and other fundraising activities for 21 years.  In addition, he has been active with the United Way of Greater St. Louis, recently joined St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts, is the former president of the St. Louis Illini Club, and is a committed member of his local parish.
“We simply could not have the positive impact on kids and families if it were not for dedicated volunteers,” says Jeffrey Clay, executive director of the YMCA of the Ozarks. “Pat Rohrkaste has exemplified that dedication for more than two decades and he is richly deserving of this honor.”

Rohrkaste is a co-director of UHY’s Not-for-Profit Services Group in St. Louis and is a member of the firm’s Charitable Giving Committee.  Under his leadership, UHY made a major commitment to the community in October 2005 by offering its quarterly Not-for-Profit Educational Roundtable Series.  This program offers area not-for-profits the opportunity to gain free education on topics like accounting, auditing, taxation, cash management, governance, and charitable giving.

“Patrick cares about improving our knowledge, process, and practices without regard for personal or professional gain,” says Kim Abel, associate director of the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis and roundtable participant.  “We are not currently a client of UHY, but that has not had any bearing on his willingness to help keep us informed and answer questions.”
